Why train with us?
The Primary School Direct programme is based at Wolfson Hillel Primary school and we work with over 20 North London schools representing the spectrum of Judaism. Our accredited provider is the London School of Jewish Studies.
About this training programme
We provide a high-quality broad based programme offering training to meet the core teacher standards. We offer a specialist Jewish Studies / Limmudei Kodesh track.
Candidates in the programme will be based in a class setting at the home school and are expected to lead a class. Time will be given for the training programme and in-school mentoring support. Throughout the year, candidates will be observed by the home school and external accreditors.
Candidates will be employed by the home school for the duration of the programme on the unqualified teacher’s scale.
Entry Requirements
- Degree awarded by a UK HEI (or recognised equivalent qualification)
- At least a C grade (or Grade 4 or above) in GCSE English, Maths and Science or equivalents. If applicants do not hold the specified award and grade above they must hold a recognised equivalent qualification.
- Candidates will be required to pass some literacy and numeracy skills tests in advance of being offered a place on the course

How we select our trainees
- A track record of prior work with children evidenced by at least two references.
- Work experience demonstrating an ability to have an impact on children.
- An ability to organise and manage themselves personally and professionally.
- Commitment to working in a collegiate community.
- An understanding of equal opportunities and safeguarding expectations
- Strong communication skills both written and spoken
Shortlisting against entry requirements will be completed before candidates are invited to deliver a short observed session at Wolfson Hillel followed by an interview.
Access arrangements
- Accommodation – The training will be based in the consortium schools
- Childcare – None available
- Disability Access – A significant number of consortium schools have full disability access and where necessary candidates will be placed to meet their needs

- Special features – All schools will have their own expectations of dress code and dietary requirements
