Curriculum

Curriculum Aims

At Wolfson Hillel, we provide a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that is coherently planned and carefully sequenced to ensure that all pupils, including those with additional needs, know more, remember more and can do more over time.

Our curriculum is underpinned by high expectations and a commitment to strong outcomes for every pupil. This is achieved through:

  • A clearly structured curriculum built around the essential knowledge and key concepts of each subject, which are revisited and deepened over time to support long-term retention.
  • Carefully planned progression that identifies and sequences the knowledge, skills and vocabulary pupils need to achieve clearly defined end points in each subject.
  • Subject leaders with strong expertise who ensure the curriculum is well-designed, implemented effectively and regularly reviewed for impact.
  • Teachers with secure subject knowledge who present content clearly, anticipate misconceptions and adapt teaching to meet pupils’ needs.
  • Ongoing formative assessment that is used effectively to check understanding, address misconceptions promptly and provide timely, targeted support where needed.
  • A consistent and rigorous focus on reading fluency and the explicit teaching of vocabulary to enable pupils to access the full curriculum.
  • High-quality opportunities for pupils to develop their writing across the curriculum, including a strong emphasis on expository writing to prepare them for the next stage of education.
  • A curriculum that fosters curiosity, resilience and a genuine love of learning, enabling pupils to appreciate the distinct value and disciplinary nature of each subject.

Through this approach, we ensure that pupils are well-prepared for the next stage of their education and develop the knowledge, skills and cultural capital they need to succeed in life.
