EYFS Good Level of Development (GLD) is a teacher-assessed measure of a child’s attainment at the end of Reception. Children achieve GLD if they reach the ‘expected’ level in 12 Early Learning Goals across 5 prime areas: Communication & Language, Personal, Social & Emotional Development, Physical Development, Literacy and Mathematics. It is not a formal test but a profile based on classroom observation.
The Year 1 Phonics Screening Check is a short assessment to confirm whether children have learned to read aloud 40 words using phonic decoding to an age-appropriate standard.
The Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) is an online assessment to determine whether children can fluently recall their times tables up to 12×12. This skill is considered essential for future success in more complex mathematics.
The Year 6 SATs (Statutory Assessment Tests) are a set of national curriculum tests. The purpose of the tests is to measure school performance and ensure that individual children have the support they need in English and Maths as they move on to secondary school. Assessments takes place in: Reading, Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling (SPaG), Writing and Maths (Arithmetic & Reasoning).
